In 1975 CBS aired
Moses The Lawgiver, a mini-series starring Burt Lancaster (
From Here To Eternity) in the title role, and Sir Anthony Quayle (
The Guns of Navarone) as Aaron. The original 360-minute mini-series version has never been released on DVD in the USA before, although back in 2004 there was
a DVD release by Lionsgate of the 141-minute theatrical cut version (shown largely in the U.K.).
A&E Home Video appears to be bringing out the original 360-minute version at last, though. However, it doesn't appear to be scheduled for general release in regular retail stores just yet. Instead, they seem to have set up an exclusive deal with online retailers
DeepDiscount.com and
Critic's Choice Video (both owned by Infinity Resources) to initially sell this title only through them. Both begin shipping this on
April 8th.
Our thanks to reader David Porta for tipping us off about this item. Note that when A&E has done these sorts of exclusivity deals in the past, the title was made generally available to other retailers soon after, usually withing a matter of months. So stay tuned, hopefully, for more general retail release info! In the meantime, here's a small look at the box art, along with the description:

Burt Lancaster, Anthony Quayle. The life of the religious leader, lawgiver and prophet is dramatized in this lavish, internationally produced TV miniseries, from his discovery floating in a small basket on the Nile to parting the Red Sea and beyond.
